Well intended but execution needs a lot of work
I really wanted to like this application and give it 5 stars because it makes Tim Kellers amazing sermons accessible. Yet its issues with execution make the app hard to use at best, and unusable at worst.
As people have said, getting the sermons to stream can be challenging. Over half the time they dont work at all and I have to download them. When I only have 3G connectivity, this can take up to 20 minutes per sermon. And when they do work, they dont often play in the background. So I cant use the phone for anything else and I cant even put it to sleep. I cant figure out why some sermons play in the background and others dont.
The app itself "feels" slow. It has to load content for every screen, especially when you want to view the list of available sermons. I also wish it listed them more systematically so it would be easier to track which ones I have already listened to. If the app kept a local cache of a list of content and then would check in the background for changes on startup, I think the app would feel a lot more responsive.
Note that I dont say these things to be critical, but to provide feedback so the app can get better. It is still a blessing to be able to listen to these sermons when Im in the car.
